The Honorable Congressman Lewis was fervent about ensuring the next generation knew how pleased he was to see us grab the torch and carry on the fight to make the necessary changes to bring about justice for all. He truly believed we are capable of making that change. Having such an introspective legacy, Congressman Lewis will continue to serve our community for generations to come.
It is in this spirit, we have made it our duty to encourage and celebrate outstanding students across various educational undergraduate levels with scholarship and funding opportunities. The John R. Lewis Good Trouble Scholarship® opportunity was created by the Foundation in 2021 and will focus on students attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU) and pursuing degrees in political science, criminal justice or history.
However, the success of this scholarship fund is dependent on the generosity of donors and supporters like you. Even more so, its sustainability is equally dependent on your generosity. Therefore, as we strive to ensure the continuation of this initiative, there must be sufficient funding from like-minded partners and donors who are readily available to make financial contributions towards helping these worthy students achieve their educational goals. We consider you enormously significant to the Foundation’s needs and respectfully request a contribution to the John R. Lewis Good Trouble Scholarship®.
It will be a great honor to have your support as we make history in building a better society and sustainable future by investing heavily in the educational journey of students in our institutions of higher learning. John Lewis encouraged us to “Get in Good Trouble, Necessary Trouble” and in doing so, we are ensuring that our youth will deliver to the expectation of society.
