I am Charles “Corky Conyers and I am the President of Taylor, Morse and Brown Foundation, Incorporated (TMBF) which is a 501 3 nonprofit. The foundation was created as a pathway for Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. to serve as an efficacious force offering guidance and resources to families that will add instructive enhancements, social consciousness, and community development to underprivileged young men in the Washington, DC metro area. Our programs have tremendous impacts on young lives. Beneficiaries of our programs have demonstrated dramatic improvements in overall social achievements and overcoming economic obstacles and they are now positioned to receive a college education and their degree. We have provided numerous high school students with scholarships and access to a wide range of opportunities for interpersonal development, and training sessions with various community members and exposure to professional subject matter experts.
Recently, the foundation focused its outreach to establish the John Lewis “Good Trouble Scholarship ” fund which benefits and supports the needs of students attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) majoring in History, Political Science or Criminal Justice. Members and affiliates of TMBF are extremely excited to do our part to honor the legacy of our Chapter Brother, Congressman John R. Lewis who dedicated over 60 plus years of his life to social activism and legislative action on civil rights, voting rights, gun control, health-care reform and immigration.” Prior to his passing, Brother Congressman John Lewis endorsed the creation of the Good Trouble Scholarship ” fund.
